Paragon Caldera XL
Vertical versatility for glass, clay, and precious metal art

The Paragon Caldera XL is a multi-purpose tabletop kiln designed to give artists, jewelers, and educators the freedom to explore a wide range of materials—from metal clay and ceramic test tiles to fused glass jewelry, enameling, and even china painting. With extra vertical space and high firing capacity, the Caldera XL goes beyond traditional tabletop kilns, offering powerful performance in a small, modular design.

Why own a kiln like this?
The Caldera XL opens the door to true creative independence. Whether you’re a jewelry artist working with silver, bronze, or copper clays; a ceramicist developing crystalline glazes; or a glass fuser exploring pendants and bowls—this kiln adapts to your workflow. It’s perfect for at-home experimentation, fast glaze testing, student projects, or firing one-of-a-kind pieces on your own schedule.

Why choose the Paragon Caldera XL?
The firing chamber measures 7.5" wide x 5.5" long x 8.75" high, offering more vertical clearance than most kilns in its class. Fire small ceramic sculptures, sag or slump glass, or build upward with confidence. The Caldera XL heats from the top using a durable coiled element housed in recessed grooves, and fires up to 2350°F (1287°C)—suitable for stoneware, porcelain, and metal clay work.

Its modular, two-piece design makes it easy to expand with compatible collars like the Caldera-X (for increased depth), Caldera-BC (with bead door), or Caldera-E (for enameling). The reversible firebrick base extends the kiln's lifespan, and optional configurations include a glass viewing window or lid safety switch.

Inside, 2.5" thick insulating firebrick provides excellent heat retention, while L-shaped notched firebrick joints add strength to the chamber over time—superior to mitered or butted corners used in some competitive models. A mar-proof steel stand is included to protect surfaces and raise the kiln for airflow and cooling.

The kiln is equipped with the Sentinel Touch Xpress digital controller, allowing full programmability for glass, ceramic, and metal clay cycles. A sheathed Type-K thermocouple and heavy-duty wiring ensure safe, accurate temperature readings and long-term reliability.

Who is this kiln for?
The Caldera XL is an ideal match for glass artists, ceramicists, and metal clay users who want a flexible, compact kiln for both creative and technical applications. It’s an outstanding tool for schools, home studios, and professional makers alike—perfect as a first kiln, a dedicated test kiln, or a portable companion to larger units.
