For detailed work on ceramics, glaze pens are hard to beat. Picture your favorite glaze, packaged in an ergonomic  squeeze bottle, making fine lines and glazed dots a snap to create! These pens are great for the classroom; contained glaze means easy clean-up, and the easy-to-use applicator practically guarantees a great result. Unlike glaze markers, our glaze pens do not feature a felt-tipped applicator; these tips are more like slip-trail applicators.

Here at The Ceramic Shop, we currently carry two popular lines of glaze pens. Spectrum's SuperWriter glaze pens are popular in classrooms because they come in such a wide variety of colors and are low-fired around cone 04, which is a popular firing temperature in school ceramics programs. Our underglaze Potter's Pens by Minnesota Clay are a little different -- instead of a wide sip-trailer-like applicator, they have a finer, spring-loaded tip, so while they might not be the best for small children, we’ve had customers get amazing results with these implements, from beginners to advanced potters. Because the Potter’s Pens are filled with underglazes, they won’t stick to your glaze shelves when you use them to sign your work -- and as an added bonus, they are all stable up to cone 9.
