Transfer paper is a unique and easy way to impart a drawn look to your ceramic surfaces. Generally, you use these on pieces that have already been bisqued. We carry a wide variety of colors, including full sets, of Minnesota Clay’s Graffito Paper. This is transfer paper that is coated with colorant-rich underglaze and then sealed with wax, so the medium won’t get all over your hands when you use it. Simply lay a sheet of your color choice over your bisqued pieces, and then using a dull pencil or ballpoint pen, draw over the top of your transfer sheet. When you pull the transfer paper away from your piece, you will see a line of underglaze will be left behind, ready for firing! One big advantage of using transfer paper is how easy it can be to trace an image on to your pot -- simply place your transfer paper on your pot, then position a different paper with whatever pattern you would like to transfer over the top of that, and trace.
Graffito paper is good for a wide range of temperatures, with most colors working from cone 06 all the way up to cone 8. However, please be sure to check each individual color’s firing range (listed on each product page) before you proceed with your project.
We also supply printable decal paper from our friends at Fired-On.
