Mayco’s Speckled Stroke & Coats
Mayco’s Speckled Stroke & Coats® feature small specks of color added to one of the base glazes in the Stroke & Coat® line. These specks provide visual interest and texture - and they DO NOT melt and flow during the firing process. Speckled Stroke & Coat® glazes perform just as their counterparts in the Stroke & Coat® line.
Mayco’s Speckled Stroke & Coats® are heavy-bodied, versatile glazes that have the widest range of use and application of any Mayco glaze The extraordinary tolerance and forgiveness of Stroke & Coat® allows it to be fired from cone 06 to cone 10 in oxidation or reduction firings. They can be applied to both greenware and bisque ware and to a variety of clay bodies, including earthenware, stoneware and porcelain. Speckled Stroke & Coats® glazes are also inter-mixable and can be blended to create new colors. However, colors adjacent to each other will not blend. For example, if used in Majolica techniques, the glazes will not move nor will it blend into the base glaze beneath it.
Mayco’s Speckled Stroke & Coats® will fire to a glossy finish - clear glaze is not required. They are available in a broad palette of colors - there are over 70 vibrant bright and pastel shades. Speckled Stroke & Coats® are non-toxic and food safe.
