Introducing the Cone 10 capable GlazeTech kiln by Skutt! Featuring all of the bells and whistles you come to expect with Skutt kilns, but now in a smaller size, perfect for meticulous glaze testing. Unlike most test kilns, the GlazeTech is designed to run on 240 volts, but still only requires a 20Amp breaker (208 volt models require a 30 Amp breaker). Its square design makes it perfect to fire multiple shelves of test tiles, and with it’s 9" depth you can actually test short cylinders to see how your glaze performs on a vertical surface. The GlazeTech is perfect for firing small sets of tiles and perfecting your glaze without having to fire your larger less efficient kiln several times for a tiny glaze test, and its easy-to-program Mini Touchscreen Controller can store your programs for repeated firings in the future. If you have any questions about Skutt’s Glazetech test kiln, please give us a call -- we’re happy to talk kilns!
Options for Customization:
The GlazeTech can be ordered with a few different customization options. First, select the correct
voltage for your space -- 240V, or 208V. Next, you may choose to upgrade to
APM elements -- these are long-lasting elements designed for production set-ups that complete higher firings on a regular basis. If you high-fire once a week or less, or if you do a range of firings in your GlazeTech kiln (such as Cone 06 bisque), you won’t notice much of a difference by adding these elements. However, if you fire to Cone 10 multiple times per week, this add-on will save you time and money in the long run. You may also opt to order your kiln with the suggested
furniture kit.
Furniture Kit includes:
Four full shelves
Twelve 1" posts
8oz of dry kiln wash
