At The Ceramic Shop, we love these pencils for their versatility! They are ideal for marking test tiles when making new glazes or for creating personalized surface decoration. They are also a practical way to add a signature to the bottom of a pot (especially if you have forgotten to sign it before it became too dry to carve into (not that that ever happens!).
To use, apply the underglaze pencil directly to bisqueware. After decorating, dust lightly to remove excess particles. Once applied, it is recommended that your work is coated and fired with a clear glaze (firing temperature depends on that of the glaze).
Amaco Underglaze Pencils provide a nice alternative to liquid underglazes as they allow for better control, are easy to apply and are mess free. They also have a long lifespan and do not dry out the way underglazes can. When sharpening underglaze pencils, it is best to use a knife or a blade and avoid pencil sharpeners.
If left unglazed, Underglaze Pencils should not be used on surfaces which come in contact with food or drink. All Amaco Underglaze Pencils are LEAD FREE.
The maximum firing temperature for this black pencil is Cone 10.
Each pencil is 7" long.
