Skutt KMT-1218-3, 240-volt, 1-phase, Furniture Kit.

Skutt’s KM-1218-3 features a low, wide design that makes it easy to load and popular with schools -- in fact, this is our showroom’s most popular Skutt model. The standard KilnMaster controller gives you the options of Cone Firing, or programming your own 8-segment Ramp/Hold firing programs. Traditional Skutt stainless steel (including a Lid Lifter) and firebrick construction (featuring 3” thick walls for firing efficiency) results in a kiln that will last for years of constant use. For maintenance convenience, the KM-1218-3 is equipped with a current sensor that allows remote technicians to troubleshoot your kiln right over the phone. The Skutt KM-1218-3 also features balanced elements. The top and bottom of the kiln lose heat faster than the center, so Skutt puts hotter elements (more power) in those areas.

Options for Customization:
The Skutt KM-1218-3 comes with a few options for customization. First, select the correct voltage and phasing from the drop-down menu above; if you are unsure of your space’s wiring, please check with an electrician. Next, you may select to order your kiln with the suggested furniture kit which includes six 5/8" half-shelves, and six each of 1"through 6" posts. For frequent higher temperature firing, we suggest 1" shelves, available here. You may also add a vent system which is recommended for closed-air spaces. You can also upgrade to the new Touchscreen controller which makes operation as easy as using a smartphone. Finally, you may choose to upgrade your kiln to support APM elements, which is a good choice if you plan to high-fire your kiln multiple times per week.

This model differs from the Skutt KM-1227-3 (notice, no PK) in firing range - the non-PK version reaches cone 5-8 depending on voltage, so if you know you will need this kiln to go to cone 10, we recommend this PK version.
