The HF 2318 is designed to give "Studio" size in a load-friendly depth of 18". You get all the benefits of a thick-walled, 23" diameter studio kiln in an easy to load and unload design. The HF 2318 is capable of cone 10 firing on a daily basis. The HF 2318 features our Multi-Zone TAP I, Icon+ and Rampmaster II controls and is standard equipped with our exclusive Swing View Adjustable Viewing which you will absolutely enjoy.
Features:
Top Load
The HF 2318 is a top loading design and offers a chamber 23.5" diameter x 18" deep. This puts the rim of the chamber at 29" which is waist high or lower. The HF 2318 offers a standard studio diameter with an easy to load depth. It's very popular.
Lid Lift Assist
To assist in opening and closing we have equipped the HF 2318 with our patented Dyna-Lift lid lift assist.? The Dyna-Lift lightens the force needed to operate the kiln lid by attaching and lifting at a single point, the lid handle. The lift assist is not attached to the kiln chamber at all. All heavy lifting forces are directed entirely to the kiln stand and not the kiln itself. It's a wonderful design that places no lifting forces onto the chamber which would only weaken it. The Dyna-Lift Lid Lift Assist is the best designed, best performing lift assist available.
Multi-Zone Control
The HF 2318 is designed with multi-zone control. Multi-Zone control means the kiln uses more than one thermocouple (temperature sensor) to control the heat in the firing chamber. The kiln chamber is divided into heat zones, each with its own thermocouple. Each zone temperature is controlled very precisely. The end result is a very even temperature distribution from top to bottom.
2 Position Lid Vent
The HF 2318 is equipped with a 2 position lid vent. Perfect for speeding up the cooling process.
Swing View Equipped
The HF 2318 temperature controls are fitted to our Swing View Adjustable Enclosure. The swing view is a pivoting, swing-up enclosure that allows you to rotate the control to a comfortable viewing and programming angle. Once you're done, lay it back down to see it from across your studio. It's that simple. The swing view pairs well with touchscreen controls like the TAP II, Icon+ and Icon as viewing angle can be perfectly aligned. You'll love it.
3" Firebrick with No Loss in Chamber Volume
Historically kiln designs were based on 2-1/2" firebrick. As 3" firebrick began to show favor in high temperature designs many kiln manufacturers simply reduced the firing chamber size to accommodate the thicker firebrick while leaving the outside dimensions the same. At Evenheat we took a different direction. Instead of making the chamber smaller we kept it the same while increasing the outside dimensions. In this way there is no loss in chamber volume and common, standard kiln furniture would continue to fit. Nice.
Swing-Away Peephole Covers
Our kiln designs feature swing-away peephole covers as opposed to plugs. Plugs get lost and they get broken. Our attached peephole covers remain on the kiln and simply swing open and closed. You won't lose them and they certainly won't break.
Lid Prop
The HF 2318 is provided with a lid prop bar that positively keeps the lid in the open position. Simple operation is made even easier with our well designed lid handle.
Relay Access Port
The HF 2318 incorporates our Relay Access Port for simple, no-panel-off relay replacement. Simply remove the access plate to gain access to the mechanical relays. There's no need to remove the control panel and dig into the internal wiring. It's absolutely simple and effective and all it takes is a screwdriver! It's a given that mechanical relays will fail at some point. This relay access port really comes in handy when they do.
Full Stainless Steel Jackets
Multi-section, multi-jacketed kilns were conceived to lower production costs for the kiln manufacturer and to make life easier for the person installing the kiln. These are worthy goals but they come at the cost of kiln quality. It's a trade off we're not willing to make. We build our kilns with full stainless jackets from top to bottom. Full stainless jackets mean absolutely solid, life extending construction. There are no leaks, no shifting and no weakness. Insist on Full Stainless Jackets for true build quality.
Controller Options:
Rampmaster III - 12 Key Controller
The Rampmaster 3 is built from Bartlett Instruments V6-CF platform and is designed primarily for glass work but works well for other applications including heat treating. The Rampmaster 3 features dedicated buttons and readout and is offered to those who don't want a touchscreen. As with all of our controls the Rampmaster 3 is paired with a low-error Special Limits thermocouple for very precise temperature sensing. Match it up with our Quiet Drive Solid State relay system and treat yourself to some serious performance with an old-school vibe.
Icon+ - Touchscreen Controller
The Icon+ starts with Bartlett's well-regarded Genesis platform and adds low-error, Special Limits thermocouples for incredible precision. We also fit the Icon+ with a non-metallic faceplate for exceptional Wi-Fi reception for the Bartlett mobile App. These added features take the Icon+/Genesis to a performance level found nowhere else. Programming and use is easy and straight-forward. Performance is legendary and shines even brighter when paired with our Quiet Drive Solid State relay system. The Icon+ represents the ultimate combination of Bartlett control prowess and Evenheat design to offer the highest performing Genesis based control available.
Tap II - Touchscreen Controller
The TAP II with its large screen, well laid out format and incredible mobile App is our most popular temperature controller. Firing schedule creation and use are simply simple. The science behind the screen delivers accurate and consistent results especially when matched with our Quiet Drive Solid State relay system. The TAP II is fitted with low-error Special Limits thermocouples for extremely accurate temperature control as well as our non-metallic faceplates offering excellent Wi-Fi reception. Evenheat’s HF 2318 is a great way to introduce cone 10 capabilities in an efficiently-sized package to your studio space. This kiln is great for the artist who makes low, wider forms, such as platters; this kiln is also great for objects like taller, thinner vases measuring up to 16”. This kiln model features 3”-thick brick construction encased in sturdy stainless steel - thicker than the standard 2.5” brick, which increases your kiln’s firing efficiency. Users love the kiln’s side handles, which makes moving the HF 2318 quite easy, and the lid’s wide handle makes opening your kiln a breeze. The lid can be propped in two different positions to vent your kiln as needed. The HF 2318’s peepholes feature swing-away covers, so you don’t have to worry about separate spy plugs for your kiln. First, select the correct voltage for your kiln’s space -- 208V or 240V. Please note that the HF 2318 works for both 1- and 3-phase wiring. Next, the HF 2318 offers two options for your kiln controller -- the Rampmaster II, the Icon+, or the TAP II touchscreen controller. You may also opt to order your HF 2318 with the suggested furniture kit, which includes six 21” half- shelves; eight each of 1”, 2”, 3”, 4”, and 5” kiln posts; and 1 lb. of kiln wash.
