Standard's 104 Red Clay with Grog is a versatile red terra cotta clay with fine grog, making it good for handbuilding, throwing, and slab work. Images hsows 104 at cone 06 oxidation (left) and cone 4 oxidation (right). Slightly more brownish than the similar Standard 103 at Cone 2.

Shrinkage: 6% at C/06, 11% at C/4
Absorption: 13.2% at C/06, 3% at C/4


A note from Standard Clay regarding new mining production:
The following clay bodies may be affected 103, 104, 112, 119, 153, 205, 211, 214, 225, 259, 306, 308, 378, 417, 547, 760, 768, 800. While the physical properties of the clay remain within our acceptable specifications, changes in raw material chemistry and mineral composition may influence glaze interaction and final fired appearance. This change may or may not affect your production. We recommend customers perform production testing to confirm glaze fit, surface response, and finished fired color prior to use in regular manufacturing. Hopefully this is a short-term change and the bodies will be back to normal in the near future. We appreciate your understanding and will provide updates as additional information becomes available.
