The Tucker's Cone Art Kiln Model BX119D is an excellent choice for firing small items such as dolls, jewelry, or even a handful of mugs or bowls. This model is especially useful as a test kiln since it fires to cone 10 using a regular 120-volt wall outlet, and it is the kiln that we use here at The Ceramic Shop for all of our small tests. This 0.57-cubic-foot workhorse will quickly become a reliable part of your studio.
The model's 'D' designation means that it is a double insulated kiln, with 2 ½" of premium firebrick plus 1" of block insulation. This 3 ½" thick wall saves approximately 30 % in electricity costs and has a safer, cooler outside jacket. You will notice the efficiency with which this kiln fires, and see that each firing won't significantly eat into your energy bill. Cone-10 Kanthal A-1 elements are standard, and the kiln’s jacket and fittings are stainless steel. The Bartlett electronic controller is mounted on an angled easy-view control panel. There isn't a better-built, more convenient small test kiln on the market today than the Tucker's Cone Art Model BX/B3K119D.
