A macaloid-type Bentonite suspension agent for glazes. Also used as a surface hardener. It is an extremely plastic, hydrous magnesium silicate used to give plasticity to non-plastic whiteware and refractory bodies.
Also used as a suspension agent in glazes. Due to the hydrophilic nature of the material, a small amount of dry material can absorb a large amount of water without affecting the chemistry of the glaze.

Directions for adding to The Ceramic Shop Pro Series Glazes:

Add 1/4 teaspoon of dry Veegum T (approximately 3 grams) directly to the 16oz (1 Pint) jar and let sit. Do NOT shake to incorporate until the material has hydrated. it will change color and become gellatinous. Once it has hydrated, shake vigorously for 1 min to incorporate, and allow to sit overnight.
For best results sieve through a 60 or 80 mesh screen and allow to sit for 1 week. Shake before use.

We have found this to be one of the best options for adding suspension and brushability to glazes formulated for dipping. Because it is inorganic it has a very long shelf life and incorporates into glazes well after being fully hydrated.
