California-based Aftosa was founded in 1983 and has been supporting ceramic and glass artists for over 30 years.  We carry their extremely popular wax products, including the Aftosa Green Wax resist -- which has become a classroom staple – and their Black Wax resist, which offers artists an exciting decoration avenue. Their wax bottle applicator is an affordable way to apply both of these products with finesse!  Whether you’re waxing to bottoms of your bowls or applying an intricate resist decoration, remember that Aftosa really does live up to their slogan: “You’re the artist, we’re your partner.” 

 

Aftosa Green Wax Resist

A popular blue green colored wax for artists overlapping glazes, double dipping, and layering patterns. Aftosa wax can be applied over glaze without dripping, beading, or peeling away. The wax burns out during the kiln firing allowing glazes to show through top layers. Aftosa wax can be thinned with water. Allow to dry for a minimum of 2 hours before glazing. Clean brushes with hot water.

 

Aftosa Black Wax Resist 

A great wax resist for detailed work. Can be painted on with a fine brush or slip applicator bottle. Use black wax resist to outline drawings and fill in your work with glaze. Can also be thinned with water. Allow to dry for a minimum of 2 hours before glazing. Clean all brushes with hot water.

Please Note: The Wax will FREEZE in cold climates and will not resist effectively. If the wax has frozen, it will get lumpy and separate. Wax Resist will be sent to cold regions in the winter only at the customer's risk.
