Texture rollers for clay are a great way to add an extra dimension to your ceramic projects! We offer several different varieties that work for many different skill levels, hand sizes, and ages. Some texture rollers fit onto a handle; others can be rolled directly onto clay. Either way, they’re all easy to use – simply roll them over the soft surface of clay to leave an impression!
Our Amaco texture rollers feature interchangeable rubber sleeves that offer a variety of cool patterns, from geometric shapes to koi fish. For the individual artist, just one paint-roller-like handle can be used for all of the different patterned sleeves; for the classroom, a few roller handles can ensure that your entire classroom will be texturing clay! These rollers are a convenient size, too – just over 4” long.
For a slightly larger roller, Xiem has a line of 7” long sleeves for their own handle. With over twenty different interchangeable patterns, you’ll never run out of creative possibilities when you do large-scale slab projects!
For smaller decorative options, Bamboo Tool’s 1” polyresin roller stamp set works for both handbuilt and wheethrown projects. These texture rollers are wide enough to leave a clear mark, but they’re also small enough for wheelthrowers to use as a rouletting tool, which allows you to add texture and dimension to the exterior of a vase or the rim of a bowl. These rollers all fit on to Bamboo’s classic roller handle.
We also carry plenty of clay texture rollers that don’t require an additional handle – just your hands! MKM’s beautiful wooden texture rollers come in a wide variety of smaller sizes – and they make two lines that specifically do not require an additional handle. Their finger rollers are simply rolled between two fingers and leave delicate patterns just under 1 cm wide, making them perfect for finishing smaller wheel projects or putting a finishing-touch border on your slab work. Their larger HandRollers4Clay are fun to use directly on larger slabs – and kids love these handy-sized tools, too. With all of these option, you are sure to find a clay texture roller that works for you here at The Ceramic Shop!
