TERRA SIGILLATA

If you love the look of decorative slips or washes, but prefer more of a vitrified/shiny surface, consider trying terra sigillata for your next decorative low-fire project. Terra sigillata is an incredibly refined clay slip that comes in a variety of colors, and adds a natural, yet polished dimension to the surface of your project. If you’ve ever tried to make terra sigillata on your own, you know it can be tricky; we carry pre-made terra sigillata that’s a breeze to use! Simply paint three to eight coats on your leather-hard or dried greenware -- the wetter your clay, the more coats you will likely need -- and then polish with a soft cloth before firing. You will be stunned with the silky-smooth surface of your piece once your firing is complete!
