MoonMoon Pottery Puck Krispy 2" x 1"

This drape mold shape features a rounded angular top and sharp angular bottom.

These 3D-printed pottery pucks are available in sizes ranging from 2 to 10 inches. Each double-sided pottery puck has a unique shape for both the top and bottom, allowing you to create a variety of sizes for nesting plates and bowls with a single tool.

They are not only functional but also durable, making them suitable for repeated use. In addition to nesting dishes, they can also be used for creating various other projects, including plates, bowls, pet dishes, hanging planters, and sculptural forms.

These pottery pucks are durable, lightweight, and waterproof. They can be easily cleaned with a damp sponge. They are designed to be used with slab building techniques, pressed into foam like an anvil, or for sculptural hand building.

Materials - The forms are 3D printed using PLA+ plastic, which results in a light layer of texture on the surface. This texture can leave a slight imprint on your clay, but it can easily be smoothed out with a sponge or rib. If your form gets scuffed or scratched from normal use, you can lightly wet sand the surface to restore its smoothness. Start with 60, 80, or 120 grit sandpaper, and then progress to finer 400-600 grit for an ultra-smooth finish.

Clay Tips - To ensure your clay releases easily from the mold, use a barrier between your clay and the pottery form. Suitable options include doubled-up plastic, thin cotton fabric, or cornstarch. If you choose cornstarch as a release agent, be sure to wash your bisqueware before glazing. It is recommended to use painter's tape to create small tabs on your pucks. This helps you easily pull them away from the clay.

Directions - First, slab roll out your clay and cut it to your desired size. Next, lay thin plastic over your pottery form. Then, drape the clay onto the form while the plastic is in place. Begin at the center and work the clay into the form using a red rib or a damp sponge. Allow the clay to stiffen to your preferred dryness before flipping it over and removing the drape form. After that, peel off the plastic, smooth out any imperfections with a sponge or red rib if desired, and let it dry slowly under plastic. Do not allow your clay to dry completely on the form, even overnight, as this can cause it to shrink and crack.

Care Instructions - Clean with a wet sponge or wash directly in the sink. Be sure to dry before using.

Warning - This material is heat sensitive. **Do not leave it in a hot car or a hot pottery shed, as it will melt at high temperatures. It is also not recommended to use with a heat gun.**
