Coyote's Constellation glazes are designed to shine in all kinds of firings. Thickness, firing temperature, and especially cooling speed can affect these glazes in unique and marvelous ways. The constellation series is perfect for the artist who wants one of a kind results with every kiln unload!
About slow cool firings:
Slow cool firing can provide dramatically different finishes than if you were to let your kiln naturally cool down. Slow cooling effectively lengthens the period of firing during which most crystals develop, resulting in more and larger crystals. All Coyote glazes can be slow cooled to create one of a kind special effects!
Coyote Slow-Cool glazes work best with the following program:
Ramps 5
100/hr to 220 (this preheat ramp is optional)
350/hr to 2000
150/hr to 2200 hold 15 minutes
500/hr to 2150 hold for 15 minutes
125/hr to 1400
It is important to note that you will need to tweak this schedule for your own kiln and firings. Every kiln is different, so there is no schedule that will work for every firing. We strongly recommend using witness cones to ensure that your kiln is reaching the correct temperature.

The Ceramic Shop is excited to introduce Coyote’s new line of Constellation glazes!
By adding controlled cooling to a normal cone 6 firing, these rich glazes produce spectacular effects that were previously difficult to obtain in commercial glazes.
These are crystal glazes that do NOT run, do NOT seed, and can be fired right along with your other cone 6 glazes!
Coyote Slow-Cool glazes work best with the following program:
Ramps 5
100/hr to 220 (this preheat ramp is optional)
350/hr to 2000
150/hr to 2200 hold 15 minutes
500/hr to 2150 hold for 15 minutes
125/hr to 1400
Please keep in mind that thermocouples tend to vary slightly, so you may need to tweak the top temperature for your kiln. Your witness cone 5 should be all the way down, and the witness cone six should be from halfway over to the tip even with the base (between cone 5 1/2 and 6), cone seven should be mostly straight.
