Neodymium oxide (Nd2O3) is a rare earth lanthanide with a variety of applications in the coloration and decoloration of glass. Used in ceramic glazes, this oxide creates spectacular violet, red-violet and blue-violet hues. Use of the oxide in glaze can yield excellent transparency and translucency, as opposed to a similar color achieved using a stain.
