"Always in your hands"
Since 1874, SIO-2® has been a leading European manufacturer of ceramic clays for industry, pottery and artistic ceramics, and natural modelling clays for crafts, fine arts and education.
SIO-2®'s target is to innovate, developing products with natural clays that, in their multiple applications, meet the needs of the most demanding users. In each of our products we use experience and passion, taking care of every detail from the conception of the product to the final manufacturing process. The Quality System, certified according to ISO 9001:2015, is Sio-2's framework for continuous improvement, and Social Responsibility and respect and care for the Environment are fundamental points in the philosophy of Sio-2. Always in your hands, Sio-2 is your brand.
The Ceramic Shop is now the North American Distributor for Sio-2! Are you looking to sell Sio-2 clay? Just give us an email and we'll get you set up with Europe's favorite clays! Reach out to wholesale@theceramicshop.com for a quote.
Low Fire Clays
The SIO-2® range of low-fire clays, with a firing range from Cone 010 to Cone 03 (1796-2012ºF / 980-1100ºC), includes a wide offer of multipurpose clays for pottery, artistic ceramics and structural ceramics. They come in multiple colours, formats and humidity levels for the different needs of the ceramic process and product finish. Grogged varieties confer a very interesting textured surface (not flat) which, in turn, provide ideal properties for making pieces that are difficult to dry, avoiding deformations and cracks. All references are adjusted to have a perfect match with conventional glazes.
High Fire Clays
The SIO-2® range of high-fire clays, with a firing range from Cone 03 to Cone 10 (2192-2372ºF / 1200-1300ºC), includes a wide proposal of grogged clays for artistic ceramics. They contain a high percentage of grog (40%), with different granulometries, from very fine (0-0.2 mm) to very coarse (1-3 mm), which provides excellent behavior during drying and firing. The varieties with greater granulometry develop textures that give character to the piece. Their extraordinary plasticity makes them optimal for modelling and large-format sculpture, and their wide range of colour shades, from ivory white to graphite black, makes them an ideal means of artistic expression. They are also suitable for Raku.
Specialty Clays and Porcelain
The range of SIO-2® Porcelain includes a wide and exclusive proposal for artistic ceramics, with coloured varieties, fired, paper and imperial porcelains from Jingdezhen, of extraordinary translucency and whiteness. Also included in this section are Speciality Clays which, due to their characteristics, stand out from the more conventional clays.
3D Printing Clay
The SIO-2® range of ceramic clays for 3D printing includes a series of low temperature, stoneware and porcelain clays, specially designed for 3D printers. Due to their suitable degree of humidity, consistency, rheology and regularity, they are ideal for use directly in the different printer models on the market. 3D printing clays are supplied in a practical 11 lb (5 kg) cylindrical format with double packaging.
