Opalescent glazes are expressed to their most brilliant and true color on red clay bodies. Try speckled and buff clays for other exciting results with this glaze series. Opalescent glazes require multiple coats dipped or brushed, and then fired slowly, with ample time to cool slowly. This will allow the glaze to flow and create that mother-of-pearl iridescence on a smooth or textured surface.
