Use these rubber texture mats to create intense and beautiful textures on your pots that your friends will think you carved by hand! With these mats you can create finished projects in no time!
To use texture mats simply roll out a slab of moist clay of desired thickness and place the mat texture side down on top of it. Then, with your hand or a rolling pin (rolling pins work great to obtain even impressions), gently press on the mat to imprint the design in the clay. Carefully remove the mat and voila! A gorgeous texture!! These mats are easy to use and great for quick projects such as coasters, trays and trivets. Because these mats are flexible, they can be used on curved surfaces as well.
Rubber texture mats are loved by clay artists! But, they are not limited to use in the ceramic arts. Texture mats may be used with printmaking inks as well. Use these mats for scrapbooking, making your own wrapping paper and greeting cards - or anything else you can imagine!
Each mat is made of a durable, flexible rubber. While these mats are designed so that they will not stick to the clay, repeated use at one time can create moisture buildup and result in some clay sticking to the mat. But, as always, we at The Ceramic Shop have a solution!! To prevent potential sticking, simply apply a thin coat of a releasing agent on the mat prior to use. Household items that act as releasing agents include butter, cooking sprays or Murphy’s oil soap (just try to avoid creating bubbles, as they will appear on your clay). Mats are easy to clean and store. We recommend these mats for both school age children and adults.
Each mat measures 9" x 7".
