Decals for Ceramics & Glass
The decals we provide are ideal for black line art graphics and grayscale photographs. They need to be fired on with a kiln to 1470 farenheit.
So How do I order?
Step 1: Prepare file:
We can accept most file types, however we prefer adobe Illustrator (.ai), photoshop (.psd), and (.pdf) files. When submitting an illustrator file with fonts make sure you use the TYPE>CREATE>OUTLINES command. All rastor images (photographs) should be 300dpi and scaled to the size you want them. Images will be converted to grayscale before printing. To adjust your grayscale levels use photoshop's IMAGE>ADJUST>LEVELS or CURVES.
Document size requirements are shown in image.
Email files and contact information to: decals@theceramicshop.com
Someone will reply by email or by phone. You can also order online through our shopping cart. Allow for 2 business days to produce decals and a few days for shipping.
Step 2: Clean decal:
Wipe off any film or residue on decal with a damp sponge.
Step 3: Cut out decal:
Trim the decal as close to image as possible. Remember whites are achieved only from the ceramic or glass surface.
Step 4: Soak decal:
For approximately 1 minute soak decal in water or until you see the decal delaminating from the paper backing.
Step 5: Apply decal:
Slide the decal off the paper onto your glass or ceramic surface.
Using a sponge or rubber rib gently work out the water. Allow to dry or you may use a hair drier to speed things up.
Step 6: Fire:
Fire your piece to cone 016 or approx. 1460 Farenheit. Make sure you vent your kiln lid or use a kiln vent, failure to do so may cause decal to be foggy.
